Taliban Hang Eight Year-Old Boy

The biggest killers of children in Afghanistan

The biggest killers of children in Afghanistan

Taliban hit bottom, keep digging again – but Obama and Cameron still want to talk to them:

Suspected Taliban militants hanged an eight-year-old boy in southern Afghanistan after ordering his father, a local police commander, to surrender, a government spokesman says.

The child was kidnapped by militants in Greshk district of the southern province of Helmand four days ago and was hanged on Friday, provincial governor spokesman Daud Ahmadi said on Saturday. Read the rest of this entry »

Karzai’s Afghan Wedding Crackdown: Meet The New Taliban, Same As The Old Taliban

Enjoy it while you can: Afghan wedding crackdown imminent as Kazai government moves to taliban-style restrictions

Weak, two-faced Karzai descends the slippery slope of Taliban appeasement even further with Afghan wedding crackdown (hat tip – the excellent Women Against Shariah):

There’s an awful lot of flesh on display at Qasre Aros in central Kabul. Arms and shoulders are free to the elements, while necklines plunge daringly low on garish ballgowns made of every shade of synthetic material imaginable and encrusted with fake jewels.

Though the skin may be the orangey plastic of the dozens of mannequins lining the walls, the dresses are worn every night by real Afghan brides. But the days when brides-to-be would flock to the shops of central Kabul’s Shar-e-Now Park may be numbered. Conservative elements of Hamid Karzai’s government are pushing for far-reaching restrictions on weddings the likes of which have not been seen since the Taliban regime.

Under a law proposed by the justice ministry and soon to be considered by Karzai’s cabinet, “garments contrary to Islamic sharia” will be banned. Shops selling “outfits that are semi-naked, naked, transparent, or tight in a way that reveals part of the woman’s body” will be fined and, if they persist, closed down. Depraved religion: Police Officer interrogates a failed, injured 14-year old suicide bomber over massacre at a sufi shrine at Dera Ghazi Khan, Pakistan, in which 42 innocents died

Another ‘Wrong Kind of Muslim’ massacre from Pakistan – naturally. But this time, with an especially generous helping of Islamic depravity:

They don’t call it extremism for nothing.

A teenage Pakistani suicide bomber who failed to blow up pilgrims at a shrine in Pakistan stunned his captors when he made clear how desperate he was to die for his cause.

“Let me go, I want to be a martyr,” 14-year-old Fida Hussain screamed as policemen led him away. “I want to send all you policemen to hell.” Read the rest of this entry »

Taliban ‘Abandon Opposition’ to Female Education

Feeling the love of Islam: Children wade through the ruins of their school, blown up by the Taliban in January, 2009

And I’m a banana:

The Taliban have abandoned their opposition to female education in Afghanistan, the country’s education minister has claimed.

Farooq Wardak told the UK’s Times Educational Supplement a “cultural change” meant the Taliban were “no more opposing girls’ education”.

Under the Taliban regime, women in Afghanistan were not allowed to work or get an education.

Mr Wardak made his comments while in London for the Education World Forum. Read the rest of this entry »

More Pakistan Friday Prayers Carnage as At Least 50 Disassembled

Religion of Peace: A victim of the homicide bomber attack

Religion of Peace: A victim of the homicide bomber attack

Once again, the ultraviolent Taliban have Friday on their minds:

At least 50 people have been killed and up to 100 others injured in a bomb blast at a Sunni mosque in northwest Pakistan during Friday prayers, officials have said.

There are fears the death toll from the explosion could rise further.

“There were more than 100 people inside the mosque. The roof of its main hall collapsed after the blast. Several people are buried under the debris,” a local official told the AFP news agency. Read the rest of this entry »
