UK University Heads Say They ‘Can Do Little’ About Islamic Extremism on Campus

Islamic fundamentalism is being allowed to flourish at universities, endangering national security, MPs and peers said yesterday.
Academics are turning a blind eye to radicals because they do not want to spy on students, a report claimed.
Despite “damning evidence” of a serious problem, little progress had been made in tackling the unsustainable situation, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Homeland Security said.
They urged the Government to tackle the issue on campuses with “utmost urgency”.
Such extremism “endangers our security at home and has international implications that are serious enough to threaten our alliance relationships”, said the group, which includes the former home secretary Lord Reid.
Secret files obtained by The Daily Telegraph and WikiLeaks disclosed this week that at least 35 terrorists held at Guantánamo Bay were indoctrinated by extremists in Britain.The leaked documents, written by senior US military commanders, illustrated how Britain effectively became a crucible of terrorism over the course of two decades. Priest Juha Molari is receiving threats, and faces being defrocked for speaking out against Doku Umarov and his internet mouthpiece, the Kavkaz-Centre.
“I use the word terrorist. They use the word President,” Molari explains.

The Muslim population in the UK will almost double to 5.5million within 20 years, it was claimed last night.
According to a worldwide study of the spread of Islam nearly one in ten Britons will be Muslim by 2030. And the forecasts mean Britain would have more Muslims than Kuwait and close to the number found in America, even though five times as many people live there.
An increase in the Muslim population from its current 2.8million will be mainly driven by immigration, according to figures prepared by a Washington think tank.
Projections by the respected Pew Research Centre said the 40 years between 1990 and 2030 will see a fivefold increase in the number of Muslims in Britain. In 1990 there were 1.1million Muslims in Britain, representing 2 per cent of the population. Read the rest of this entry »

Guests at the Istanbul premiere of a new vampire film were among the first victims of new curbs on alcohol that have raised secularist fears Islamic strictures may be encroaching on everyday life.

A vehicle was set on fire. – “These incidents can no longer be dismissed as juvenile antics”, said Skåne police informer Calle Persson. – There are grown men behind the attacks.”
No one was injured in the night’s disturbances in the neighborhoods around Ramels Road and Admiral Way.
