Palestinians in Gaza have acquired anti-aircraft and anti-tank rockets from Libya during its six-month civil war, enlarging but not significantly improving their arsenal, Israeli officials said on Monday.

While the rebellion against Muammar Gadhafi has stirred concern abroad about the fate of Libya’s ageing chemical weapons stockpiles, Israel has no indication Hamas or other Palestinian factions have sought these, the officials said.

Instead, Israeli officials have detected an inflow of SA-7 anti-aircraft missiles and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), said one official, describing an overland supply route that opened up between eastern Libya – after it fell to the rebels – and the Gaza Strip via Egypt. Just Journalism’s The Wire blog reports that The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian and the Financial Times all carried stories about the boarding of the Dignite al-Karama, the final ship in this year’s convoy attempting to break Israel’s maritime blockade of Gaza.

This was the only boat in this year’s convoy that had to be intercepted by Israeli naval forces. The Wire notes that the event could have been expected to prompt comparisons with the 2010 raid of the Mavi Marmara, during which nine Turkish passengers were killed when they tried to lynch Israeli soldiers. Target Israel: Muslim terrorists from al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade are using public-domain tools such as Google Earth to pinpoint targets for missile attacks

Gaza terrorists have a new tool helping them to fire on innocent civilians living in southern Israel – the popular satellite mapping program Google Earth. A group of terrorists from the Al-Aksa Martyrs’ Brigades recently described their use of the program to a reporter for Slate Magazine.

“The technology is always improving,” a terrorist calling himself Abu Saif told journalist Sharon Weinberger. “Our struggle started with the Kalashnikov, and then it moved to the suicide bomb, then the locally made rocket, and now the Grad rocket.”

Gaza terrorists in rocket launching crews use Google Earth to aim their weapons, Abu Said said. The program is seen as superior to maps because it is more up-to-date and gives precise locations for potential targets. Read the rest of this entry »

Buh-bye, now

Israel on Friday largely fended off a planned “fly-in” Palestine demo by hundreds of ‘activists’, who had vowed to take commercial flights into Ben Gurion airport outside Tel Aviv and then gather in the West Bank city of Bethlehem to begin a series of demonstrations.

More than 200 international activists, mostly from European countries, were kept from boarding Israel-bound flights after Israeli officials circulated a list of names to airline officials and asked that carriers refuse them seats, officials said.

Several dozen activists, including two Americans arriving from Greece, had made it to Israel’s international airport by Friday evening. But they were intercepted by police and deported or held for questioning. Read the rest of this entry »

..and the missiles still rain in on Israel. More lies and misdirection from the ‘Palestine’ industry and ‘Humanitarian Crisis Gaza’, exposed:

The IDF’s Coordinator of Government Activities in Judea and Samaria, Major General Eitan Dangot, revealed last week that more than 60 rockets and mortar shells out of 460 rockets and mortar shells fired in the past year at the northern Negev from the Gaza Strip, were aimed directly at the land crossings from Israel into Gaza.

Dangot made the comments during a briefing to foreign reporters in Jerusalem, in which he explained how Israel assists Gaza’s citizens. He said that Israel has invested over 50 million shekels in renovating and increasing the capacity of the Kerem Shalom crossing, the crossing through which most of the goods enter Gaza.

Dangot presented to the foreign journalists a long list of relief measures taken by Israel to help the Gaza Strip since the Cabinet decision of June 2010, in which it was decided to increase the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip. Read the rest of this entry »
