The story of the atrocity below tells of a young Coptic Christian man who was beaten to death by a Muslim gang in April this year – and the discrimination and denial of justice that is now following. A glimpse into a world rarely reported by the mainstream media – life as a Dhimmi (non-Muslim second-class citizen) in a Muslim state:

Malak Adel Fawzy, a 19 year old Egyptian Coptic man, was murdered on 9 April in a savage attack. The tragedy took place in Tanta, 94 km north of Cairo, when Amir Aziz, a friend of Malak Fawzy, had a quarrel with Motaz-Bellah El-Hefny; the quarrel was stopped by bystanders. Neda – “Your last breath was our first hope..”

Neda - The face that will haunt the thug Ahmadinejad and the Mullahs forever

Her name was Neda Salehi Agha Soltan and she was a philosophy student. But the manner of her death has turned her into an instant, global symbol of the Iranian regime’s brutality.

This innocent woman aged 26 was shot in the chest during running battles between opposition protesters and Iranian security forces in Tehran on Saturday. Since then, a grainy, 40-second video showing her final moments, blood streaming from her nose and mouth as a man implores her not to die, has ricocheted around the world on YouTube, blogs and social networking sites. Iran’s Government Crossing Legitimacy Line

Iran – Genie Leaves Bottle

The foreign media in Iran are facing sweeping restrictions, with official permission needed to attend or report on demonstrations.

With traditional forms of communication blocked, Iranians are using technology to keep the world informed about events.

Middle East political and security analyst James Spencer told the BBC: “As foreign correspondents find their work restricted and their visas curtailed, the ubiquity of the mobile phone… is coming to the fore.
