Turkish troops in pursuit of Kurdish rebels have crossed into northern Iraq and killed four militants, Turkish officials say.

The military said air strikes were also launched against rebel positions deeper inside Iraqi territory.

The Love boat? Not really. The Turkish vessel Mavi Marmara waas packed with hardcore, armed Islamists intent on a battle

Tel Aviv – Ships from several countries, including Iran and Lebanon, have reportedly left or are planning to leave for Hamas-controlled Gaza in defiance of an Israeli maritime blockade on that territory.

Israel considers Gaza-bound convoys a security risk because of Hamas’ ongoing efforts to smuggle Iranian rockets and other weaponry into Gaza since the Iran-backed group overthrew the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority in a bloody coup there in 2007.

Israel Security Agency Director Yuval Diskin has been quoted as saying by the non-profit organisation, The Israel Project, that a port in Gaza would “pose a huge security threat to Israel.” Read the rest of this entry »

Eagle-eyed blogger Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs was responsible for exposing Reuters’ Fauxtography during the 2006 Lebanon conflict. Examining photos of bloodied and battered Israeli naval commandos on board the Mavi Marnara, published by the Turkish press, Johnson has once again exposed Reuters’ doctoring of photos.
In the first picture, published in the Turkish newspaper, notice the “peace activist” holding a knife in the lower right corner:

Iranians prepare to load aid bound for Gaza

Another Muslim thugocracy prepares for a little Israel-baiting:

TEHRAN — The Iranian Red Crescent has decided to send two aid ships to Gaza this week in the latest bid to break the blockade imposed on the Palestinian territory by Iran’s regional arch foe Israel.
Red Crescent director for international affairs Abdolrauf Adibzadeh told the state IRNA news agency late on Sunday that the decision to send the ships was taken after a meeting with the foreign ministry.

“One ship will carry donations made by the people and the other will carry relief workers. The ships will be sent to Gaza by end of this week,” Adibzadeh said.

He said the Red Crescent has called for Iranian volunteers to act as relief workers and accompany the vessels.
“Volunteers who want to go to Gaza and help the oppressed people of occupied Palestine can refer to the Red Crescent website and register,” Adibzadeh said. Read the rest of this entry »
