LONDON – A filmmaker, anthropologist and economic researcher are among those headlining events marking what pro-Palestinian organisers have declared as “Israeli Apartheid Week” – and all three speakers are Israeli.

University campuses in more than 40 cities around the world are marking the week with lectures, films, multimedia events, cultural performances and demonstrations.

Question what you hear: it isn't 'the West' that is 'killing innocent Muslims'

This piece from the Washington Times confirms a belief that we’ve always maintained on this blog – that in spite of the the constant, emotive whining from leftists and Islamists, claims that “the West is killing hundreds of thousands of inncocent Muslims” are nonsense. The biggest killers of Muslims in the world today are… other Muslims:

Taliban suicide bombings and other attacks caused Afghan civilian deaths to soar last year to the highest annual level in the war, the United States said Wednesday, while deaths attributed to allied forces dropped nearly 30 percent – a key U.S. goal for winning over the Afghan people.

As the Anjem Choudary-supporting extremists from the recent homecoming parade in Luton attended court today, details emerge of the shockingly abusive accusations they raised against our fighting men:

group of Muslim protesters shouted ‘murderers’, ‘rapists’, ‘baby killers’ and chanted ‘burn in hell’ at soldiers on a homecoming parade from Iraq, a court heard today.

Soldiers from the 2nd Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment were greeted by protesters screaming the hostile jeers and holding placards as they marched through Luton last year.

There was a furious reaction from the hundreds lining the streets to give the 200 soldiers – known as the Poachers – a heroes’ welcome. Among the supporters upset by the protest were children and families.

North Korea’s illegal trading in war weapons has come into sharp focus with the seizure of a big payload at a Bangkok airport at the weekend.

Author Nonie Darwish, whose new book warns of the advance of Islamic law in the West, completed a scheduled speech at Boston University but not without the interruption of an apparent arson in a nearby restroom.

Although keen to win the Muslim vote, the Conservatives were distancing themselves from one of their own internet ventures yesterday after [Telegraph column] Mandrake informed them it included material apparently lifted from a website founded by a “hate preacher” banned from Britain.

Officials were trying to contact the man they had employed to create the Conservative Muslim Forum’s website to ask why it features chunks of text from IslamOnline, which was established by Yusuf al-Qaradawi, who was described as “dangerous and divisive” by David Cameron. Rinkeby, North Stockholm: almost exclusively Muslim suburb

Swedish taxpayers helped fund a youth recreation centre in the North Stockholm suburb of Rinkeby, which served as a recruiting station for the Somalia-based Islamist group al-Shabaab.

More than ten young people from the predominantly immigrant neighbourhood who spoke with Sveriges Radio (SR), said that the recruitment drive was led by a youth leader at the Kreativitetshuset recreation centre.

The recreation centre was started by a mosque and received a total of 480,000 kronor ($70,400) from the Stockholm city sports and recreation administration over four years before closing down in 2008. Read the rest of this entry »
