Malaysian State to Permit Child Marriage for Muslims

Modern Progressive Malaysia™ Alert- the South East Asian ‘Tiger’ continues its slow-burn slide into full-blown Sharia, as a majority-Muslim state sanctions paedophilia:

MALACCA: The Malacca Islamic Religious Council has agreed to allow male Muslims below 18 and female Muslims below 16 in the state to wed. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam, the council’s chairman, said the decision was taken to reduce the number of cases involving babies born out of wedlock and increasing cases of adultery.

He said the leeway would only be given upon gaining the permission of the Syariah Court as well as the families of the teenagers.[could anyone seriously believe that this will be denied? Ed.]

The decision was taken based on the resolutions submitted by delegates at a conference on combating social ills recently. “The state government is of the view that it is better for parents to give permission for their teen children to marry at a young age. Read the rest of this entry »

UK Taxpayers Funding Muslim ‘Virginity Repair’ Surgery

Muslim women: love your genitals, hate Islamic male barbarism

The hidden price of Multiculturalism – the brushing under the carpet of the appalling lot of women in Islam – and as usual, it’s the beleaguered British taxpayer that’s footing the bill:

An increasing number of women are having controversial ‘virginity repair’ operations on the NHS before they get married. In the last five years, 116 hymen repair operations have been undertaken at the tax payer’s expense.

Thousands more women are believed to be paying up to £4,000 to have the surgery done privately each year. NHS surgeons carried out 30 of the procedures in 2009 – up 20 per cent from 2005.

In the private sector one Harley Street doctor claimed to carry out up to three of the operations a day. The specialist who offers a hymenoplasty for £1,850, said demand had tripled in recent years. Read the rest of this entry »

Saudis Using Technology to Track and Report on Women’s Travel

When you thought the RoP had just about hit bottom with regards to the rights of women – it starts digging again. This shocking enforcement of the Sharia concept of ‘Guardianship’ from Our Friends The Saudis™:

When women’s rights activist Wajiha Al-Huwaidar flew out of Saudi Arabia last week for a holiday in Italy with her family, she was hoping for a brief respite from what she describes as the ‘gender apartheid kingdom.’

She wasn’t so lucky.

As she left, her husband received an automated SMS text message from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informing him that his wife, legally considered his ‘dependant’ under Saudi Arabia’s strict gendered guardianship system, had left the country.

Al-Huwaidar’s husband received the same text, she learned last week, when she had left Saudi Arabia on another recent trip to Germany.

“It is sad how Saudis use technology in a way not intended to be used for,” she told The Media Line. “In Saudi Arabia, technology brings more restrictions and misery! They use it to have more control over people’s lives, especially women.”

Polygamy Making Muslim Families Miserable – Malaysian Study

Malaysian women from the advocacy group Sisters In Islam (SIS) protesting against polygamous marriages

The practice of polygamy among Muslims in Malaysia is leaving a trail of marital devastation in its wake, according to new research:

Men in polygamous relationships find it difficult to meet the needs of all their wives and children, and the result is unhappy and cash-strapped families, according to a landmark Malaysian study.

Polygamy is legal for Muslims, who make up more than 60 percent of Malaysia’s population, allowing Muslim men to take up to four wives.

But activists and women’s groups say polygamy is cruel and has deviated from its original purpose in Islam, which was to protect widows and orphans. Read the rest of this entry »

Bangladesh Sex Attacks, Murders Dismissed as ‘Eve Teasing’

Bangladeshi women protesting acid attacks to mark International Women's Day earlier this year

The chattel status of women in Muslim-majority countries is once again highlighted in this disturbing report:

Aleya, 18, sustained burns to 70 per cent of her body and died after six days in intensive care, becoming one of dozens of teenage girls to be killed or have committed suicide in Bangladesh this year because of sexual harassment.

“A huge fire ball engulfed her and she was screaming, running around and trying to put out the fire, but she couldn’t — everything except her face was burned,” said Aleya’s aunt Rajia Begum, 40, who witnessed the attack.

“The man started asking her to marry him in April, she was dead by May 26. She was scared of him. We all were. When she told him she wouldn’t marry him, he said ‘I’ll make sure you don’t marry anyone else.’”

A string of teenage suicides, at least 22 this year, according to local rights group Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK), and dozens of high-profile attacks on teenage girls have highlighted Bangladesh’s sexual bullying problem. Read the rest of this entry »
