ISLAMABAD – Taliban militants flog two men and a teenage boy in a video that has emerged from Pakistan’s tribal belt along the Afghan border, showing the hold of insurgents in at least one area there despite army offensives and intensified U.S. missile strikes in the region.

The video was shot on a mobile phone on Feb. 3 and passed to a local journalist who occasionally provides video to Associated Press Television News. The man who provided the clip said it was taken in the Mamozai area of the Orakzai tribal region, though there was no way of verifying that because travel there is dangerous for outsiders. Welcome the latest addition to the UN Security Council: Nazi-saluting Hizballah militiamen

The lunatics have finally overrun the asylum. And, like it has already succeeded in doing with the Human Rights Commission, the Organisation of The Islamic Conference (OIC) gets a grip on the UN Security Council. Things have taken a worrying turn for the worse at the already-rotten UN. Could things get any more absurd?

WASHINGTON – As of January 1, 2010 and for the next two years, Lebanon will be joining the United Nations Security Council as the Arab states’ representative, replacing Libya. This means that as of next year, Hezbollah and Iran will have direct access to the Security Council.

The Hezbollah organization, which was required to disarm in line with Security Council Resolution 1559 from 2004 and 1701 (in the wake of the Second Lebanon War,) is now a member of the Lebanese government – which recently decided that the group does not need to disarm [we understand that Lebanon has repudiated Resolution 1559 in the last few days - Ed]. "Hey Joe.. some Swedish guys just gave me an award - whadidido?"

Fool Me Once.. Obama Collects His ‘on-account’ Peace Prize from the Nobel Committee today. Even most of his own electorate don’t think he deserves it:

US president on his way to Oslo to receive Nobel Prize for Peace just as he issues orders to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan. In meantime, majority of American public does not think Obama deserves prize. Neither do most Norwegians

No support at home or abroad. As US President Barack Obama boards a plane from Washington for the Nobel Prize ceremony that will be held on Thursday in the Norwegian capital, Oslo, some two thirds of Americans believe their president is not deserving of the prize. Read the rest of this entry »

Some of the theories currently being touted by the mainstream media regarding the motivation of 39-year-old army psychiatrist Major Nidal Malik Hasan, who shot 13 of his colleagues dead  and wounded dozens more on Thursday, include:

• That he had been ‘increasingly unhappy’ in the military
• He was apprehensive about his upcoming deployment to Afghanistan
• Widespread stress with the long and repeated tours the US military personnel are expected to undergo (although my this might have affected Maj. Hassan is not made clear – he had reportedly never been on a tour of duty and certainly in his position would have been highly unlikely to have seen any combat even if he had)
• Post Traumatic Stress Disorder – that Maj. Hasan was affected by the PTSD he saw in some patients returning from active duty

"Hey Joe.. some Swedish guys just gave me an award - whadidido?"

US President Barack Obama has won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.

The Nobel Committee said he was awarded it for “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples”.

There were a record 205 nominations for this year’s prize.

The laureate – chosen by a five-member committee – wins a gold medal, a diploma and 10m Swedish kronor ($1.4m).

This has to be the most premature, sycophantic and politicised award of what is supposed to be a rare accolade bestowed for global achievement, ever.

Interesting to note that by the deadline for nomination submissions to the Nobel Committee, Obama had been in office for only TWELVE DAYS!

Astonishing.

For us, the Nobel Peace prized ceased to have much credibility after it was awarded to Yasser Arafat in 1994. This latest fiasco merely serves to reinforce that belief.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip – Gaza’s top judge said Sunday that he has ordered female lawyers to wear Muslim headscarves when they appear in court, the latest sign that the Islamic militant group is increasingly imposing its strict interpretation of Islamic law on residents of the coastal strip.

Supreme Court chief justice Abdul-Raouf Halabi said female lawyers will be required to wear a headscarf and a long, dark colored cloak under their billowing black robes when the court returns from its summer recess in September. Read the rest of this entry »

US intelligence officials have claimed that a prisoner released from Guantanamo Bay prison has emerged as the Taliban’s leader in southern Afghanistan.

Abdullah Ghulam Rasoul, formerly Guantanamo prisoner No. 008, was among 13 Afghan prisoners released to the Afghan government in December 2007, according to the claims. Read the rest of this entry »

Life's good when you leave Gitmo - Obama he takes care of it

It seems that the increasingly unstable and unprincipled Obama will do anything to close down Guantanamo Bay – even if it means committing an act against the sovereignty of an allied nation (in this case the US’s strongest and most steadfast allly, Great Britain)

• U.S. accused of ‘riding roughshod’ over UK as Gitmo detainees are sent to Bermuda in secret deal
• Washington insists deal was kept from London in an effort to ‘protect UK’s relationship with China’
• Bermudian opposition tables no confidence motion in PM as deal ignites political firestorm
• PM admits he may not have agreed to take detainees in had he known the controversy it would cause
• EU agrees to take in detainees

They look like ordinary tourists as they stroll along the seafront on the British territory of Bermuda, but these four men are far from regular sunseekers for they have spent the last seven years locked up in Guantanamo Bay. Read the rest of this entry »

Jihadists, murderers, bombers? We got 'em!

US President Barack Obama has asked the Australian government to accept a group of Chinese Muslim detainees currently held at Guantanamo Bay prison camp.

The Uighurs have been cleared for release by US courts.

It is the first time Australia has been approached by the Obama administration over the Uighurs. Two requests by the Bush administration were turned down.

China has requested the Uighurs’ return, but the US will not send them there for fear they will be persecuted. Read the rest of this entry »
