Appeasement of Islam and Muslims to the point of damaging his approval ratings has been a hallmark of the Obama administration

WASHINGTON – The goodwill tour of the Middle East by the Imam behind the proposed mosque near ground zero is just part of the U.S. government’s efforts to reach out to the Muslim world.

This year, the Obama administration will spend nearly $6 million to restore 63 historic and cultural sites, including mosques and minarets, in 55 nations, according to State Department documents.

Under a program established by Congress in 2001, the department will fund at least five projects in as many countries at a cost of more than $271,000. Read the rest of this entry »

Speaking to reporters today, President Obama drew a sharp line under his comments last night, insisting that his defense of the right to build a mosque does not mean he supports the project.

“I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there. I was commenting very specifically on the right people have that dates back to our founding,” he said.

Obama’s latest comments are logically consistent with his words last night, if a bit less “clarion,” as Mike Bloomberg called the first remarks. And there are certainly two possible stances here: Bloomberg’s, that the Cordoba project itself represents the best of America; and Obama’s, that the freedom of religion is an important American value.

Obama’s new remarks, literally speaking, re-open the question of which side he’s on. Most of the mosque’s foes recognize the legal right to build, and have asked the builders to reconsider.

But the clarification is, in political terms, puzzling. The signal Obama sent with his rhetoric last night wasn’t that he had chosen to make a trivial, legal point about the First Amendment. He chose to make headlines in support of the mosque project, and he won’t be able to walk them back now with this sprinkling of doubt. All he’ll do is frustrate some of the people who so eagerly welcomed his words yesterday as a return to form.

Yes He Is! President Barack Obama and the Mexican Government are preparing to wage lawfare on the State of Arizona for the apparent crime of wishing to defend its border:

 While Americans march against Arizona’s new restrictions on unlawful immigration, hundreds of illegal aliens from countries awash in Muslim terrorists tiptoe across the U.S.-Mexican frontier.

In New York, according to the federal Enforcement Integrated Database, 125 individuals were apprehended along the border from fiscal year 2009 through April 20, 2010. These deportable aliens included two Syrians, seven Sudanese, and 17 Iranians, all nationals from the three Islamic countries that the U.S. government officially classifies as state sponsors of terrorism.

Federal authorities also track “special interest countries” from which terrorism could be directed against America. Over the aforementioned period, 99 of those nations’ citizens also were nabbed on the border. They were: two Afghans, five Algerians, 13 Iraqis, 10 Lebanese, 22 Nigerians, 28 Pakistanis, two Saudis, 14 Somalis, and three Yemenis. How the flotilla probe might be convened (based on previous experience..)

And we all know what happened the last time we had one of those:

US President Barack Obama said Wednesday that he supports an ‘independent’ probe that would examine the events leading to Israel’s Monday raid on the Gaza-bound protest flotilla, Army Radio reported.

Earlier, White House sources hinted that they might demand an international investigation of the affair.

Obama spoke with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday, where he expressed his condolences and was “working in close consultation with Israel to help achieve the release of the passengers, including those deceased and wounded, and the ships themselves.”

“The President affirmed the importance of finding better ways to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza without undermining Israel’s security,” the White House statement said.

Obama also made clear the US support for a credible investigation.

The White House has reacted cautiously to the raid in the last two days, asking for disclosure of the full facts.

Whilst it is somewhat encouraging that the White House is at least being seen to be calling for impartiality, the recent track record of other ‘investigations’ into Israel’s legitimate defence of her borders is not good – the Organisation of the Islamic Conference-sponsored Goldstone Report – a thoroughly poisoned and one-sided anti-Israel hatchet job – being a case in point.

A truly impartial enquiry must include detailed background of the organisation behind the flotilla, full disclosure of all weapons found onboard the vessels and the affiliations of those on board. Otherwise it will prove to be nothing other than Goldstone II.

Former UN envoy Bolton (a straight-talking and incisive commentator and someone we have a lot of time for here at Un:dhimmi) says Washington is pressuring Israel not to strike nuke facilities. On top of the the disrespectful, unpresidential way that Barack Hussein Obama treated Binyamin Netanyahu this week (and by extension Israel herelf), It now appears that he is also getting comfortable with the idea of of Iranian nukes:

Former US ambassador to the UN John Bolton expressed concern Sunday that Washington was coming to terms with a nuclear Iran.

“I very much worry the Obama administration is willing to accept a nuclear Iran, that’s why there’s this extraordinary pressure on Israel not to attack in Iran,” Bolton told Army Radio.

The former envoy claimed that this pressure was the focus of last week’s meetings in Washington between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyhau and US officials, including President Barack Obama. Read the rest of this entry »
