What happened the last time someone tried to build a Christian Church in Modern, Progressive Malaysia™

The AINA” Eastern Christian site exposes the hypocrites and their fallacious arguments in an excellent piece this morning:

Egyptians, Muslims and Christians alike, are closely watching the controversy associated with the Ground Zero Mosque project, though for different reasons. The Egyptian media is giving this issue full coverage with articles mostly accusing Americans of Islamophobia, and supporting Muslims to hold on to their rights to build a mosque anywhere as guaranteed by the US constitution, regardless of what Americans think.

On the other hand, some influential Muslims rejected the idea of a Mosque near Ground Zero only on grounds that it would backfire on Islam, by connecting it to the 9/11 events. Dr. AbdelMotey Bayoumi, a member of Al Azhar’s Islamic Research Academy, believes it could be a “Zionist conspiracy” to harm Islam. Read the rest of this entry »

Taking the fall? Iraqi Christians praying at Johannes Church in Sodertalje, Sweden

This report from the BBC’s ‘From our Own Correspondent’ series, looks at the Swedish Government’s recent deportation of Iraqis from Sweden. What seems unusual about the current wave of deportations is the the subjects are Assyrian Christians, possibly the most endangered Iraqis of all:

Although Sweden once led the way in welcoming Iraqi refugees, the authorities are now clamping down and Iraqi asylum seekers are increasingly faced with deportation.

March to power? Wilders addresses party members

Plotting Dutch Liberals despise him, but they can’t ignore his popular mandate:

THE HAGUE – Dutch anti-Islam MP Geert Wilders will have to be consulted on every decision the next government makes if a provisional agreement on forming a new cabinet reached Friday is finalised, an expert said.

Under the provisional agreement, Wilders’ Party for Freedom (PVV) will have no cabinet members but would have a crucial “support” role, the centre-right VVD, the Christian Democratic Action (CDA) and the free-market PVV said in a joint statement.

An analyst told AFP the agreement would in fact mean Wilders having a strong voice in government decisions as he would have to be consulted on each issue.
Talks on forming a new cabinet ended late Friday with further discussions scheduled to firm up the accord from next week. Read the rest of this entry »

Hospitals in the Gaza Strip are overloaded with expired drugs and medicines, Palestinian officials said. The officials insisted on Thursday that the drugs and medicines, which were donated to the Gaza Strip by aid organisations all over the world over the last two years, had expired.

Only 30 percent of the medical aid, sent to Gaza after the last Israeli military offensive 19 months ago, were used at hospitals and medical aid centres, an official in the Hamas-ruled ministry of health said.

The official said that several countries as well as civil society organisations sent to the Gaza Strip huge amount of medical aid, which included drugs, medicines and equipment. Read the rest of this entry »
