Counterterrorism Tools: How To Report Violent Jihad Videos on YouTube

Google/YouTube host thousands of hours of sickening jihad videos - but there is something you can do about it
Thanks to our good friends at the YouTube Smackdown Corps for these instructions. Read up – and get flagging!
How to (anonymously to the user) flag a terrorist video.
First click on the video that concerns you. Then:
- If you have not already done so, log in to YouTube. If you don’t have an account, you won’t be able to flag.
- If you see a ‘Confirm Birth Date’ button, click on it. It’s your agreement that you are 18 or over
- If you don’t want to watch, when the video appears, STOP or PAUSE it a few seconds after it has launched . If you choose to watch, we can tell you that you need a strong stomach. Many of these videos are offensive, graphic, and very upsetting to some
- Just below and to the right of the video, click on the flag. This opens another view that gives you the option to “Select a Reason” as to why you are flagging this video
- Choose: “Violent Repulsive Content” >> “Promotes Terrorism”
or:
“Hateful or Abusive Content” >>”Promotes Hatred or Violence” - Where it says – “Please indicate the group attacked” choose – “ethnic origin” “national origin” “religion” or “veterans status”
- You can also use the additional information section below this, to voice your outrage, or disgust, or even simple comments such as – “It is unlawful to host terrorist videos on US Servers!” or “I can’t believe that you stream these videos for terrorist recruiters.”
- When you’re done, go back up to the middle of the box and click “Flag This Video”.
A green (currently) box pops up and says – “Thank you for sharing your concerns” or some other message indicating you are done
Also useful is to let Google/YouTube know which terror organisation is being promoted. Below are a couple of resources which identify flags often used to either decorate the user’s channel page or in the videos themselves.
The US State Department’s list of designated FTOs (Foreign Terrorist Organisations)
Sunni insurgency groups (Iraq) – this may be a little dated but still worth checking.
Now get to work – and don’t forget to write in and tell us how you got on!
Moral Inversion Alert: YouTube Shuts Down Palestinian Media Watch Account

PMW only re-broadcasts the hate pumped onto the international airwaves by Palestinian terror organisations - so why censor it?
Caves to ‘Palestinian’ terror backers.. but still happy to show beheadings and assassinations to your kids:
UPDATE 2: PMW have now been reinstated. Well done to everyone involved, but with it now being clear which way G/YT’s arbitrary ‘justice’ is swinging, we will need to be extra vigilant. Their YouTube channel is here. Bookmark it.
UPDATE: In a surreal move, Google/YouTube have now given the reasons for PMW’s account termination as ‘hate speech’. Are these people INSANE? PMW merely rebroadcasts the hate speech of the PA and Hamas in order to highlight it! What they are doing is most definitely ANTI-hate speech.
What an astounding example of stupidity, wilful ignorance and moral cowardice.
We’re re-posting this piece from the excellent, authoritative Elder of Zion blog, in an attempt to get word out of an appalling piece of hypocrisy from Google/TouTube.
It appears that Google/YouTube have caved in to political pressure and closed the account of Palestinian Media Watch, an invaluable resource, rebroadcasting the hateful anti-Semitic, anti-kuffar bile pumped onto the international airwaves by Palestinian Authority and Hamas’ TV stations. YouTube/Google Failing to Make Good on Promise To Remove al-Awlaki Hate Videos
Watch this space – let’s see if YouTube Google make good on their promise to remove ALL of Yemen-based terror supremo al-Awlaki’s Jihad video porn
‘Shocker’. ![]()
Even if unwittingly, YouTube/Google is easily the word’s largest distributor of Muslim Jihad propaganda. Its record of removing such material, however, is somewhat less illustrious. Enter Lady Raven, scourge of Jihadi VeeJays and wannabe Shahids the world over, via the excellent YouTube Smackdown Corps site and her own blog (tip o’ the hat to Lady Raven herself):
Update 11/7/10 – YouTube showed huge ambition in their follow-through of taking Awlaki’s videos down yesterday. 25 of 200 were removed. Now ain’t that just special?
Two accounts were suspended. Normally that would be met with approval on many fronts, but the ISSUE here is an influential, terrorist-supporting-radical-imam gracing the halls of YouTube/Google doing the devils work. Simply outrageous. Read the rest of this entry »
Hezbollah Re-arming in Lebanon – UN Finds Way to Blame Israel
Apparently, the strong suspicion (not without substantial reason) held by Israel and the West that Hezbollah is engaged in a major increase and upgrade and of its weapons reserves in Southern Lebanon – paid for by Iran and smuggled through Syria – is what is causing the tension, according to UN leader Ban Ki Moon. Nothing to do with the rearming itself, you understand. Oh, those recalcitrant Jooz:
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon warned Friday that an increase in tensions between Lebanon and Israel could lead to a new conflict with potentially devastating consequences.
In a report to the UN Security Council, Ban accused both countries of violating the 2006 cease-fire resolution that ended the 34-day Second Lebanon War between Israel and Hezbollah.
The UN chief said Hezbollah continues to maintain “a substantial military capacity” in violation of UN resolutions and an arms embargo, and he again called for Hizbullah and other militias to be disarmed “through a Lebanese-led political process.” Read the rest of this entry »
Turkey Invades Sovereign Nation, Kills 4 Kurds. Crickets Chirp.
The international media responds in outrage. No, wait..
Turkish troops in pursuit of Kurdish rebels have crossed into northern Iraq and killed four militants, Turkish officials say.
