The lack of challenge by media and the élite to fake Islamist propaganda may be costing real lives

…and people die. Just what is the point of the mainstream Western media?

The world’s press and TV has been abuzz over the past few days with the story of Arid Uka, a 21 year-old Kosovar who has been charged with two counts of murder and a further three of attempted murder.

The Frankfurt Airport employee apparently shrieked ‘Allahu Akbar!’ (‘God is greatest’), as he emptied his pistol into his victims; US military personnel who had just arrived in Germany from a British airbase. He also attempted to murder a third, execution-style – firing his pistol while it was held at the would-be victim’s head. Luckily it misfired.

In a bizarre twist, it was reported that while being interviewed, Uka, a ‘devout’ Muslim, claimed he had been driven to commit this atrocity after seeing a video on YouTube*, allegedly showing the rape of a Muslim woman by US soldiers.

The original piece citing this claim was one originally attributed to French news agency AFP, but only a few examples of this remain online – when we searched AFP itself for the article, we came up with a blank.

However Spiegel in Germany and the BBC in Britain are now repeating it (although the BBC were characteristically coy about mentioning the rape aspect ).

But none of them are challenging it. In fact, the mainstream media hardly ever challenges Islamist lies and propaganda – preferring instead, it appears, to pounce on the slightest transgression or insensitivity shown by the West, and hold it up as justification for what has now become an overwhelmingly large (increasing by the day) number of bloodthirsty atrocities committed in the name of one religion – Islam.

It is true that there are such videos circulating on YouTube and other video-sharing sites. There are also many links to them from Arabic-language Jihadi sites and other discussion forums.

They are fake.

Excruciatingly obvious cuts from ‘war rape’ porno flicks, poorly shot and appallingly acted on cheap sets with crappy props (one apparently shows a ‘US soldier’ wielding what looks like an AK-47), inter-cut with news footage and presented to Muslim kids as hard fact.

Nonetheless, it is being used deliberately and successfully to whip up Muslim enmity and hatred for the West – and in this case, it may have lead directly to the deaths of the US soldiers in Frankfurt.

And, even with he world’s media widely available to anyone with an internet connection (something clearly available to millions of Arabic-speakers) – there is little or no countervailing argument coming from the West.

These kids think this stuff is real. And in Frankfurt – and who knows where else – this unbelievably poorly hacked-together rubbish is costing real lives.

After the appalling pictures and stories that emerged from Abu Ghraib, the US military jail in Iraq where rogue personnel routinely and sadistically abused their captors (many of them innocent), the overwhelming bias of the international media against the war on terror was given free reign. Disturbing and revolting though the images were – we never heard the end of it.

The same was true last year when Leftists and Islamists joined forces for their propaganda ‘flotilla’ to Gaza – the resulting lies about Israel’s defensive action to prevent an illegal breach of her border propagated to such an extent (in one instance evidence was tampered with by a mainstream media organisation) that they became the dominant narrative – notwithstanding the fact that the Blogosphere had exposed them as a compete sham. Mud stuck.

We ran a detailed timeline with evidence, but this was nonetheless an astounding propaganda victory by the ‘Flotidiots’.

Again, the mainstream media, as usual, were either sympathetic (eager as ever to lay into their perpetual villain, Israel) or absent.

The self-flagellation and hand-wringing from the liberal media in both examples above seemed interminable. Yet when the ideas and apparent inspiration behind gross injustices committed in the name of Allah – such as the Frankfurt shootings – go unchallenged because of laziness, credulousness, misplaced empathy or pure bias on the part of our media – crickets chirp, and tumbleweeds tumble.

People are being murdered on the pretext of malicious lies and propaganda, circulating like an opportunistic virus around the Islamic world. And make no mistake, it is finding its mark.

Apart from some concerned interest groups, a relatively small band of bloggers and writer/webmasters who do get it – no one, it seems, is fighting the civilised world’s corner in this information war.

It is truly chilling to think that the Frankfurt shooting may have been assisted by our seemingly chronic inability to challenge the Islamist narrative.

So when are our cynical, slanted news ‘professionals’ and their bosses going to get off their pampered backsides and start doing their jobs?
