Ahmadiyya women mourn after an earlier deadly attack in May this year

Unknown assailants [ahem. - Ed.] opened fire on a worship place used by the Ahmadi religious minority in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore, DawnNews reported. The gunmen escaped after exchanging fire with security guards. No casualties were reported in the incident.

Police said the Ahmadi worship place was attacked by four to five gunmen and that the firing lasted for a few minutes.

The attackers were using small weapons, police said, adding that empty bullet casings were recovered from the site.

Ahmadis in Pakistan have been targeted by militants in the past. In May, at least 93 people were killed when militants attacked two Ahmedi worship places in Lahore, capital of Punjab province.

The Ahmadi community has also encountered problems in other countries including Egypt, which earlier this year detained nine members of the sect.

The Ahmadi sect is strongly critical of violence in the name of Islam. Religious strife between majority Sunni Muslims and minority Shias has killed more than 4,000 people in the past decade.

Founded by Ghulam Ahmad, who was born in 1838, the Ahmadi sect believes that Ahmad himself was a prophet and that Jesus died aged 120 in Srinagar, summer capital of Indian-ruled Kashmir.

Pakistan declared Ahmadis non-Muslims in 1974 and 10 years later they were barred from calling themselves Muslims.

The biggest killers of Muslims (other Muslims) strike again in charming Pakistan – luckily no-one died this time, but the story underlines the truism that if ‘pious’ Muslims can’t find any kuffar to harrass and violate, other members of the Ummah will always do.

The anti-Semitic Liberal Democrat Peer, Jenny Tonge in action at some 'Free Palestine/Annihilate Israel' gathering or other

Controversial Lib Dem peer Jenny Tonge has accused Israel of being the “cause of terrorism” and said the West’s treatment of Muslims was due to “Holocaust guilt” and the power of the pro-Israel lobby.

Baroness Tonge, who was sacked in February by leader Nick Clegg as health spokesperson after demanding an investigation into allegations of organ harvesting by the IDF in Haiti, made the comments in the House of Lords on Friday.

Speaking at the Strategic Defence and Security Review, she said: “The treatment of Palestinians by Israel is held up as an example of how the West treats Muslims and is at the root cause of terrorism worldwide. Read the rest of this entry »
