New Low for Pakistan as Christian Woman Sentenced to Death for Blasphemy

Some don't even get to hear their kangaroo court sentence: this Christian man and his brother were shot dead in the courtroom, having been prosecuted for blasphemy after leaflets denouncing the prophet Mohammed and 'bearing their names' were found in Faislabad, Pakistan

A mother of two has become the first Christian woman in Pakistan to be sentenced to death for blasphemy.
Asia Bibi, a field labourer in her thirties, was handed the sentence by a court of sessions in Punjab province on Sunday evening.
She was found guilty of committing blasphemy against her fellow farm workers in the village of Ittanwali during a heated discussion about religion in June last year. Read the rest of this entry »
Remembering Kristallnacht: And The Other One

The 9th of November is usually set aside as a date of remembrance for victims of Kristallnacht, an organized anti-Jewish pogrom in Germany and Austria that is often seen as a prelude to the Holocaust. But most are unaware that it wasn’t the only one.
A lesson for those who think Muslim Jew hatred began in 1948:
The details are quite well known to western audiences; using the assassination of a German diplomat in France by a Polish Jew as cover for a “spontaneous” uprising against the Jews, the Nazi paramilitary Sturmabteilung as well as normal citizens initiated one of the worst peacetime atrocities against the Jews in German history.
