Five Years Ago Today in London..

Today, we remember the five-year anniversary of one of the darkest hours in British history, when 52 completely innocent people were murdered horrifically and in cold blood by cowardly Muslim terrorists, on 7th July, 2005.

Britain was basking in glorious weather – and a flush of uncharacteristic national pride at our being nominated for the 2010 Olympic Games in 2012 the day before.

The morning started out normally enough. Then reports began to trickle from the breakfast radio shows, of a series of power outages affecting large parts of the Tube system. This soon turned into something else altogether, as the story could be contained no longer. We were soon to discover that we had suffered the worst peacetime attack on British soil in our history – at the hands of an evil, alien ideology; yet carried out by men born here.

This day must serve as a stark reminder to us all about the threat we face from Islamic terrorism; which sadly, five years on, is with us more than ever. Our thoughts need to be with families of the fallen and the survivors today – as they continue to struggle with the trauma of having lived the unimaginable horror inflicted on London that day; as they will for the rest of their lives.

We must remain vigilant. We must never forget.
