Jihad for Dhimmis – Decoding the Hate: Part 1: Kitman

Anjem Choudary and Dr. Saleh bin-Fouzan - arch practitioners of Kitman

The first of an occasional series of short pieces in which we will attempt to illustrate how seemingly concilliatory or positive statements from influential or senior figures and others in the Islamosphere are rarely quite what they seem; and how some the techniques, originally developed centuries ago during early internecine fighting between Sunnis and Shias, are actually accepted practice within Islam.

We hope this will assist those either new to the site, or who wish to add to their knowledge of what the mainstream media might gloss over; in navigating their way through the lies and the spin.

Today, we’ll be discussing the use of  Kitman, which is an Arabic term that means dissimulation or concealment of one’s true intent – in other words, lying by omission. Let’s kick off by taking a look at a short article from today’s Pakistan’s Daily Times.

Saudi cleric condemns Taliban, Al Qaeda

ISLAMABAD: Dr Saleh Bin Fouzan Al Fouzan, a member of the Senior Clerics Commission of Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday condemned terrorist activities carried out in Pakistan in the name of Islam by Al Qaeda and the Taliban. According to a statement issued by the Saudi embassy in Islamabad, Dr Saleh said Al Qaeda and the Taliban did not pursue jihad but anarchy, adding that jihad did not permit the killing of innocent people, but was a way to spread Allah’s message. He said the youth who were carrying out suicide attacks and killing other Muslims had no knowledge of Islam or jihad, adding that picking up a weapon and resorting to mindless violence was definitely not jihad. On the surface of it, this might seem like a welcome and concilliatory contribution to the debate – a very senior, respected figure in Saudi Arabia admonishing the likes of Osama bin-Laden and the Taliban and calling upon them to stop the violence.

However, the key here is the use of the word  innocent. When Islamic violence occurs, it is never long before some apologist or other comes along and spouts the following, supposed passage from the Qur’an. In this case the apologist was President Barack Hussein Obama, in his recent speech in Egypt:

“The Holy Koran teaches that whoever kills an innocent, it is as if he has killed all mankind; and whoever saves a person, it is as if he has saved all mankind.”

But wait. This passage is not from the Qur’an. It is from the Jewish holy book, the Talmud – which predates The Qur’an by centuries. As referred to by Melanie Phillips in her recent article on Obama’s Egypt speech, it was appropriated and twisted to mean something entirely different in the Muslim book:

Qur’an [5:322-5:35] That was why we laid it down for the Israelites that whoever killed a human being, except as punishment for murder or other villainy in the land, shall be regarded as having killed all mankind; and that whoever saved a human life shall be regarded as having saved all mankind. Our apostles brought them veritable proofs: yet many among them, even after that, did prodigious evil in the land. Those that make war against God and His apostle and spread disorder in the land shall be slain or crucified or have their hands and feet cut off on alternate sides, or be banished from the land.

In other words only Muslims are truly innocent – according to Muslims, of course.

Finally, listen to Anjem Choudary, leader of the terrorist-supporting UK al-Muhajiroun group, exposing the usage of the term ‘innocent’ as Kitman, in an interview for BBC’s Hard Talk programme in 2005. The footage is subtitled in French. (warning: poor audio and video quality.):
